About Carpe Vino Wine Tours

Let Us Serve You

What We Are About

When we started to develop Carpe Vino Tours, we wanted it to be, not just a party tour (although we LOVE a good time). We wanted it to be something that people could come back from and say, I never knew that!

Something that anyone, no matter if you are a newbie to the wine world or a Certified Sommelier, could pick up something new about the wines of Sonoma County. Carpe Vino Tours is all about having fun and learning about the GREAT wines of Sonoma County!!

Your Sommelier, Ed Burr

Ed has lived in Sonoma County for most of his life. Moving to Santa Rosa in 1961 he has seen Sonoma county grow from Prunes (which all the kids picked before school started) to grapes.

Early in his career, Ed worked for a small airline 😊 called TWA. You may not remember it, but it allowed Ed and Suzanne to travel and taste wine from all over Europe. So, when Ed moved back home to Sonoma County that love for Viticulture took off. He began working at Hop Kiln Winery, Clos Du Bois, and Wilson Winery.

Ed passed his level one Sommelier with the Court Of master Sommeliers and is studying for his level III  WSET certification in 2018.

Grapes and Wine are in your heart and soul. It’s not hard to be passionate about something you love.

Your Tour Manager, Steve Susavilla

Except for two years in the Marine Corp, Steve has spent his entire life in Northern California. He was born and raised in Eureka, California and after graduation from Humboldt State University he moved south to Santa Rosa, California. There he began a 27 career with State Farm Insurance as an accounting supervisor and financial analyst.

During the past 20 years he has worked in many capacities with several wineries. In every capacity from the tasting room, to Wine Club manager. He has worked for small boutique wineries to large wineries, notably Benzinger, Pezzi King, Hop Kiln and Wilson of Dry Creek Valley. If you have a question about winery operations, Steve is your guy!

“Touring with Carpe Vino Wine Tours is the best thing to do in Wine Country. We had a great experience at all the wineries and Ed’s knowledge of the wines is incredible. The light salami/cheese/bread lunch we arranged was a perfect pairing with the wines. Carpe Vino Wine Tours is so well known among the wineries we felt like a VIP at every stop. I will highly recommend this to my friends and we are already getting logistics together to come back to do it again!”
