We've made Semplice extremely easy to use so you can concentrate on whats important, your content. In this documentation we will talk you through the features of Semplice and how to use them effectively.
Because we know that no documentation can answer all the potential questions you may have about our themes, we have set up a support ticket system where you can contact us directly. However please keep this documentation for your records.

After Wordpress is installed you can install Semplice. We recommend using one of the two methods below to install Semplice:
Semplice comes bundled with plugins that can be installed by going to Appearance > Install Plugins and clicking ‘Install' on each plugin. The "Vafpress Post Formats UI” plugin will activate automatically however you will need to manually activate the “Instagram Feed” and “Mailchimp for Wordpress” plugins by clicking ‘Activate’.
Please note that the “Instagram Feed” and “Mailchimp for Wordpress” plugins require configuration. Documentation and help on how to do this can be found on the associated admin pages.
To get started with Semplice as quickly and efficiently as possible we have provided the demo content via an XML. Follow the steps below to import the demo content:

To import the demo widgets you will need to follow the steps below:
Semplice supports 4 post formats. The available post formats are Standard, Video, Gallery and Audio Posts.
To ensure these post formats are available you need to install and activate the 'Vafpress Post Formats UI'. To do this please refer to this section of the documentation.
To use the available post formats when editing or creating a post you will need to select the desired post format from the tabs above the post title. This will display the associated user interface to add the necessary content.
Semplice has six page templates and can be used to customise pages individually, they are:
To choose a page template when editing or creating a page you need to select one using the 'Template' dropdown list found in the 'Page Attributes' section.
Semplice uses the power of the WordPress customiser for customisation and personalisation. Below we explain what options are available and how to use them.
To begin customising Semplice navigate to Appearance > Customise and the Wordpress customiser will load. You will then need to click ‘Semplice Options’. You will be presented with the following options:
The ‘Color’ option allows you to select the primary color for Semplice. This changes the color of the following elements:
To change the primary color of Semplice click ‘Select Color’ and choose your desired color. If you wish to return to Semplice's default primary color you can click ‘Default’ and the color will return to its default setting.
The ‘Header’ option is used to upload and use a custom logo as well as changing the header color from the default light color to a darker color. Selecting to use the dark header is particularly useful if you have uploaded a light colored logo.
To upload and use a custom logo you can click ’Select Image’ and choose your desired logo. Your logo will then be visible in the live preview. If you wish to change the logo you can click ‘Change Image’. If you wish to remove the logo you can click ‘Remove’.
To use the dark header option you need to check ‘Dark Header’. This will then be visible in the live preview.
The social icon option allows you to link Semplice to your social networking accounts.
This option allows you to display or hide the social icons built into Semplice. Leaving this option checked will show the social icons and unchecking this option will hide the social icons in the header and footer.
Entering the URL of your social network profile into its associated field will display its social icon.
The slider displays the featured posts and here you can customise and personalise how its displayed.
You can choose to display the slider. Leaving this option checked will show the featured post slider and unchecking this option will hide the featured post slider.
The featured post slider has an overlay that adds a color tint to its images. This color tint can be changed by clicking ‘Select Color’, you can then choose your desired color. You can return the featured post slider overlay color to its default by clicking ‘Default’.
The featured post slider can animate its content in two directions, horizontal (the default) or vertical. Selecting Horizontal will animate the content from right to left. Selecting Vertical will animate the content from bottom to top.
To see the effect of this option the Slider Animation needs to be set to ’Slide’.
You can customise how the featured post slider animates its content. The options available are ‘Fade' (default) and ‘Slide'. The ‘Fade' option elegantly fades its content in and out while the ‘Slide' option will slide its content in the direction set by the ’Slider Direction’ option explained above.
The slideshow speed changes how long each slide is displayed before the next slide is displayed. This uses milliseconds to set the time, the default is 7000 (7 seconds) so for example you could change this to 10000 (10 seconds).
The animation speed changes how long the process of animating between slides takes. You re able to specify how long you would like this to take by using milliseconds, the default is 6000 (6 seconds), however you could specify any time you need.
The slider control nav is displayed at the bottom of the featured post slider and is used to navigate the through the slider. Leaving this option checked will show the slider control nav and unchecking this option will hide the slider control nav.
The slider direction nav is displayed when hovering over the featured post slider. Leaving this option checked will show the slider direction nav and unchecking this option will hide the slider direction nav.
The slider pause/play button is displayed in the bottom left of the featured post slider and is used to control is autoplay status. Leaving this option checked will show the slider pause/play button and unchecking this option will hide the slider pause/play button.
The blog option allows you to customise how the blog is displayed as well as customising and displaying the featured category section.
The global blog style changes the blog style on the blog page, the category pages, the tag pages and the search page. The options available are:
The blog sidebar is a widget ready area. Leaving this option checked will show the blog sidebar and unchecking this option will hide the blog sidebar.
To display the blog sidebar on the left instead of the default right position you can check this option.
The featured category section is displayed below the featured post slider and displays the featured categories. Leaving this option checked will show the featured category section and unchecking this option will hide the featured category section.
Here you set the ID's of the categories you wish to be featured. To find the ID of a category you can navigate to Posts > Categories. You will then see a column called 'Cat ID', the numbers displayed in this column are the category ID's.
To display a category as featured you will need to input the ID of the category. To display multiple featured categories you can separate the ID's with a comma (e.g 1, 2, 3).
The typography option allows you to change the fonts of Semplice. Simply select a new font and see the results in the live preview.
The body typography refers to all paragraph and text elements in posts and pages.
The title typography refers to all title font throughout Semplice.
The menu typography refers to all main menu text.
The button typography refers to all button elements.
The font size changes the size of all paragraph and text elements in posts and pages.
